DERMAPLANING

Dermaplaning is a form of manual exfoliation similar in theory to microdermabrasion, but without the use of suction or abrasive crystals. A sterile blade is stroked along the surface of the skin at a specific angle to gently remove dead skin cells and “peach fuzz”/fine hairs, temporarily leaving a very smooth surface. This allows for better absorption of skin products and a smoother application of makeup. Dermaplaning can be done every 6 to 8 weeks.

BENEFITS

GENERAL

• Multiple treatments and the use of the recommended home skin care maintenance are required to achieve optimal results. • If outdoors, apply sunscreen that of at least SPF35 or higher 30 minutes prior to sun exposure. Failing to do so can cause hyperpigmentation. • Although noticeable results may be obtained with a single dermaplaning treatment, the greatest improvement will be seen after a series of three to four consecutive treatments. Treatments can be done every 4-6 weeks, depending on the condition of your skin. • Due to the contours of the face and the method used, certain areas such as the eyelids and nose are not treatable. • In rare cases allergies or sensitivities have been reported to products during treatment. No Guarantee can be given as to the condition of my skin or degree of improvement expected following the treatment. • Should you attend your appointment and not have adhered to the above your booking fee/deposit will be forfeited and you will have to reschedule. • The therapist will perform a skin analysis prior to the treatment, to see if there may be any visible reason as to not continue. • If dermaplaning is not a suitable treatment, the therapist will inform you after the analysis, and the appointement will be charged at consultation rate. If dermaplaning is not contraindicated, maximum results are obtained by participating in a series of treatments plus following a home care regime as advised/recommended by the therapist. • If other forms of exfoliation or microneedling are added to dermaplaning then the sensation and penetration of the secondary service will be enhanced. Dermaplaning may cause skin irritation, mild discomfort, tenderness, peeling, and activation of cold sores however we do not get too close to the lip to try and avoid coldsore activation. In some cases, areas of hyperpigmentation may become darker. These sensations resolve over time with proper care. • To avoid the risk of infection you need to follow a strict hygiene facial routine. Keep your skin clean at all times. Follow aftercare and keep the skin clear of all harsh chemicals. Only use products suggested by the therapist. In light of any reaction to serums, please discontinue.
